Introduced in 1987, Italy’s .IT country-specific top-level domain extension is really popular both locally and in the English-speaking world. The reason is that the domain is a pronoun, which can be used for forming imaginative and catchy domain names – write.it, youcanmake.it and so on. This is a way to construct an easy-to-memorize domain name, so that it will be easier for your visitors to go back to your website or to give it with colleagues and acquaintances. The domain extension can also be used for a website, which is connected to the information sector having in mind that IT is an abbreviation, which is used all over the globe.

Since dot IT domains are not offered directly by IT-NIC, the Registry that handles this domain name extension, such a domain can be ordered through a 3rd-party domain provider, such as ours. You can grab a dot IT domain for no more than a year at a time, and the domains are transferable, so you can move your existing domain over to our firm and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been finished. The sole restriction is that the person reserving such a domain has to be located in a member state of the European Union.

As there are existing Second-Level Domains that include names of various areas and localities in Italy reserved for local third-level registrations, new names that consist of geographical areas of any kind are not permitted on any level to avoid any future confusion.
