There are plenty of web-based email service providers that you can resort to, but having a mailbox with your own domain name will grant you more credibility if you are running a business, for example, not to mention that with web-based email services there are limitations on the size of the attachments that you can send or receive. In case you use an email service that offers support for the IMAP and POP3 protocols, you won’t face such problems and you will be able to use any program on your computer to check your mails, including Apple Mail, Thunderbird or Outlook. You can even set up a mailbox on your mobile phone. The difference between the two protocols is that with IMAP, an email message is displayed locally at your end, but remains on the email server, whereas with POP3, the message is downloaded onto your computer, unless you configure the program in such a way as to save a copy on the server.

POP3 IMAP E-mail Accounts in Hosting

Each hosting package that we offer will permit you to create mailboxes with any domain name hosted in your account and to set them up on any device. During the setup process, you can pick between the IMAP and the POP3 email retrieval protocols, as we offer support for both, so you can choose which one to rely on depending on your preference and the purpose of the account – you may want to download all emails in case you’ve got a personal account and to save the messages on the server – in case you’ve got a business account, for example. The Email Manager tool, which is included in our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel, allows you to download and run a small configuration file, so as to set up a mailbox with an email software app – Apple Mail, Thunderbird or Outlook. You can use even your smartphone to get your email messages and we have an elaborate tutorial on how to carry out this on an iPhone or an Android phone.
